After a week of complete sickness, I was back into the flow of work in order to continue with my contributions to the team and our game. Having the narrative complete and ready for review and user testing, it was time to overlook the continuing parts of my role. Precisely, voice acting and casting.

Taking into consideration the available material within our work space, which mostly includes fellow students from our year or the ones above/below, I have had some ideas in regards to the people I would like to hear as one or another character.

For the role of Hope, I wanted to cast Laura, provided that her uniquely monotonous and neutral voice timbre would play a highly contrasting part in comparison to Hope's character. It would also be a humorous opposition to the name itself, whereas hope, defined as a feeling of expectation and desire for a particular thing to happen, would be portrayed in a flat and disinterested way. Alternatively, we could go for the obvious choice of Abbie, the original game designer who has a personal relation and touch to the game, or Kerris, for her soft-spoken pronunciation.

For the role of Teddy, I had to cast someone with a childish or teenage-ish voice, and there aren't many people in our surroundings that bolster with that. Potentially, AJ from Year 3 could play the part, but I have yet to approach him on the matter.

For the librarian, I was hoping to cast Abbie, provided that she's good with accents and could ideally play the part, alas the German accent was not something available in her arsenal. It has been proposed by Jessica that her flatmate could give the part a shot, considering she is actually German and could give an authentic approach to the role.

For the roles of the bullies, Adam, our Lead Animator, has offered himself to play the part of Huxley, while Humphrey is yet to be decided but, potentially, it will be played by James, our Team Leader.

What's left is the busker and the puzzle master, which could, alternatively, be played by X and Alex, our Level Designer.

After meeting up for our team gathering, I've updated everyone on the finished narrative and the additional variant I am offering, asking them to play through it in order to give any sort of input in regards to how they'd like to see the narrative unfold. Additionally, the character roles were discussed for the voice acting part and we've agreed to provide an open audition for anyone who'd like to play a part.

It has been pointed out as a concern in regards to the amount of work I'd be able to provide that I could additionally design a dialogue system of my own on Unity. I'll take this into consideration, while also doing research into voice acting in the gaming industry in order to have a more professional approach to the upcoming casting.
